L. Brooks Gore, Ph.D.
Clinical Audiologist
Brooks obtained his bachelor's degree in 1971 from Old Dominion University. After working for two years he entered the master's program in Audiology at the University of Virginia where he graduated in 1974. He then decided to pursue a Ph.D. in Audiology and received his degree from UVA in 1977.
He was employed as Assistant Professor of Surgery (Audiology) at the University of Louisville Medical School from 1977 to 1980. His love of the ocean enticed him to return to the east coast where he became Executive Director of Southeastern Speech and Hearing Center from which he retired in 1995. He joined his wife, Susan, in private practice shortly thereafter.
Dr. Gore enjoys all aspects of audiology but particularly hearing aids and balance disorders. Future plans include expansion of Coastal Hearing Centers and the creation of a clinical center for the diagnosis of disorders related to balance and dizziness.
Coastal Hearing Centers was incorporated in May, 1989 and became an affiliate of Southeastern Regional Medical Center. CHC has since expanded to include locations in Whiteville and Sunset Beach, North Carolina. From the diagnosis and treatment of hearing disorders using the most advanced hearing technology available to the diagnosis of balance disorders with state of the art equipment, Coastal Hearing Centers has become the hallmark for patient care excellence in Southeastern North Carolina.
Susan Evans Gore, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology
Susan obtained her Bachelor's degree in 1979 from Radford University. She earned her Master's degree in Audiology a year later. After working in different Audiological settings for a few years, she and her husband opened a private practice in Lumberton, NC. She is currently President of the company with locations in Lumberton, Whiteville and Sunset Beach, NC. She holds a North Carolina state licensure for Audiology and hearing aid dispensing.
In 2005, Susan returned to school to study her Doctor of Audiology degree at Pennsylvania College of Optometry, School of Audiology. She completed her studies in May, 2007 with much help from her husband and two children.
Dr. Gore enjoys working with the hard of hearing of all ages. Her particular interests lie in the area of identification of hearing loss in infants and rehabilitation of the hard of hearing adult.
Sarah E. Ervin, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology
We would like to introduce Dr. Sarah Ervin to our practice at Southeastern Center for Audiology. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Communications Sciences and Disorders and her Master’s of Arts degree in Audiology. Dr. Ervin completed her Doctorate degree in Audiology from the University of Florida in 2003.
Dr. Ervin’s experience in providing diagnostic adult and pediatric audiological evaluations, vestibular evaluations, specialty audiological evaluations and hearing instrument fittings assures your patients the best of audiological care.
She is a current member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and is licensed to practice Audiology in North Carolina.
Dr. Ervin is also licensed with the North Carolina Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters Board. We at Southeastern Center For Audiology are excited about our new addition and we encourage you to utilize our services and our professional staff for all of your patient’s auditory and vestibular needs.
Dianne Burch
Dianne came on board in July, 2009 and is new to the staff and field of audiology. She is excited about the opportunity to assist all ages who are hard of hearing. Her training and background in patient care and medical office management have prepared her for the challenge of her new position. It is her goal to make your experience with Coastal Hearing Centers a pleasant one. If you are one of our regular patients or a new patient, she looks forward to meeting you and along with our experienced and caring professionals, guide you to better hearing health care.
